Why should I join this program?

Diet culture has ruined our relationship with our bodies and with food. The fact that a woman can create and nourish life – a miraculous process that took nine months to do and an entire year to recover from – and then feel any sort of negativity about their amazing bodies is one that we will never stop fighting against. Every day you are inundated with before/after photos showcasing dramatic weight loss in a ridiculously unrealistic window of time, promises of a magic pill or miracle program that will offer a quick and effortless shortcut to your ideal body, retouched and perfectly staged photos on social media of “inspiring” bodies, and phrases like “get your pre-baby body back” – your body was never lost – to trap you in the dangerous mindset that diet culture creates. So when you try and then are unsuccessful at achieving what you are sold on, you feel like a failure and you let yourself succumb to a belief system that places your value as a person and as a mother on your weight, shape, and size.

 

Juliette and I (Kristina) have worked nearly a year on trying to put together the perfect anti-diet diet program. While we endorse weight loss and the achievement of a healthy and strong body, we make it known in no uncertain terms that weight loss goals are never to fall secondary to total health, especially mental well-being. It was challenging for us to build a “challenge” program that wouldn’t promote or glamorize unrealistic expectations, rely on rigid eating patterns or the demonizing of certain foods and food groups, nor one that pitted women against each other with an outcome of winners and losers. We want everyone to be set up for the ability to win, and we want wins to be based on non-scale victories. With all of this in mind, we developed the Healthy Habits series and built it into this 4-week challenge session.

What tools will I need to complete this program?

Nothing more than what you should already have: a food/macro tracker, food scale and/or measuring utensils, and the mindset to stop wishing for things to be different and have the willingness to create changes. We will provide you with a custom macro target prior to the start of your program.

Will I lose a lot of weight?

Just because this is a challenge doesn’t mean that our stance changes on the appropriate rate of weight loss for a postpartum or lactating mom. Most respectable coaches in the industry will agree that 1% of your total weight lost per week is an achievable goal. So, for a 175-pound person, that’s 1.75 pounds per week. However, again, this is said for the general population and requires about a 20% deficit per week to achieve. Because women, my nature, have smaller mass than men, our calorie targets tend to be much lower than men’s. For a woman to consistently maintain a 20% deficit is very difficult, and for a lactating woman to safely do so is very, VERY difficult. We generally recommend an average (“average” being the operative word here) loss of 0.5-1.0% of your total body weight per week, which can usually be achieved with a consistent 10-15% deficit while breastfeeding. And it should go without saying, that we never encourage a caloric deficit prior to 12-weeks postpartum.

How is this different than the One-time Calcs or the Milk Made Macros program?

I’ve already purchased a One-time Calc, coaching, or the Milk Made Macros program and have my custom macro targets, do I still need to pay for this?

  • Because each program is inherently different with unique offerings, associated fees cannot be spread across programs and no discounts will be offered. Thank you for understanding the time and work we have put in to developing each of the programs and to providing our time in supporting you through each one.

Are there any hidden or other associated costs?

  • None! Except maybe the money you’ll have to spend on a new wardrobe!
